I am about to upgrade my Exchange 2010 servers to SP2, but I don't want to do them all at one time in case I run into a problem. Here's what I want to do:
- Install SP2 on CAS and HUB servers.
- Install SP2 on one Mailbox server.
- Move one database to the SP2 server.
- Let that sit for 24 hrs to make sure there are no problems.
- Move the remaining databases to the SP2 server.
- Install SP2 on second mailbox server.
What will happen to the passive copy of the database on the SP1 server? I understand that I will not be able to activate a database on the SP1 server once that db has been activated on SP2. For backup and disaster recovery purposes, will that passive copy still be valid during those 24 hours? Or will replication pause until both servers are at the same SP level?
