Issues With Assigning Services to Certificates in exchange 2010

I am currently doing the Trainsignal 2010 Exchange 2010 Configuring course and i am having issues importing a certificate into exchange through the EMC and then assigning services to it for examples IIS/SMTP

I have the Mailbox role on EX2010MB1 and the CAS and HUB Transport roles on EX2010prime and a edge transport role on EDGE1

The steps i have done are below

Downloaded the CACERT.org Root and Intermediate CA Certs and placed them into my Trusted root CA store and Intermediate CA Store on all my Exchange 2010 Servers in Local Computer/User Stores

(Mydomain.com = made up not my real domain)

Went into the Exchange 2010 Management console and created a Certificate Request through the Wizard due to services i required exchange gave me a list of names i needed to include in the certificate request they included the following domain names mail.mydomain.com , autodiscovery.mydomain.com, mydomain.com and ex2010prime.mydomain.com it then proceeded to create the certificate Request file .req

I opened this file with notepad and copied the text into CACERT.org

Paste your CSR(Certificate Signing Request) below...

and then clicked on submit

It found all the domain names Exchange requested

This then generated me a certificate but not in the standard .cer format but in this format (I have not pasted it all in)

Below is your Server Certificate

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- MIIFyjCCA7KgAwIBAgIDDK+nMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBBQUAMHkxEDAOBgNVBAoTB1Jv

I then copied all this text into notepad and saved it as a .cer file

I then completed the Certifcate request in the exchange Management console.

I have been getting numerous errors "The certificate is invalid for exchange server usage” was the first error i was receiving but i have now managed to fix that by deleting everything and going through the steps again.

I am now getting different errors when i fix something something else stops !! when trying to assign services to the Certificate i get some of the following errors "Thumbprint not found" and "The certificate with thumbprint was found but is not valid for use with excahnge server privatekeymissing"

Help !!!!
