I am running E2k10 SP3 off of a VM in my basement.
I am doing this to learn the product and become more familiar with mail routing and such.
I have obviously been having issues getting mail delivered to internet recipients as I am running a dynamic IP from my ISP, and I have no edge server.
I have been reading about FOPE and EOP and using them as a smarthost to route mail out to the internet, and conversely have mail filtered that is coming back in.
I have signed up for the 30day trial for EOP and Office 365, but I am having difficulty using my on prem Exchange server as the only Exchange server and using EOP as my smart host in my send connector.
Is there an example of configuring EOP for this type of use in the library? I have found using EOP as "extra" filtering by sending Exchange Online through it, then through on prem servers then out to the Internet, however this will not work for me in this situation.
Any guidance would be very appreciated.
