I have enabled Set-Mailbox -AcceptMessagesOnlyFromDLMembers in Powershell. Also, I have Message Approval enabled on my Distribution Group. The problem is that the Arbitration email address are not in the Distribution Group. (I don't know how to add them). So now, none of the messages that the Members of the Distribution Group are sending are able to be approved, as I am not receiving the Message Approval email. Anyone know how to fix this?

Exchange Server version confusion

$

Hi,

I have Exchange server 2010 SP3 installed.

The WindowsUpdate asks me to install Update Rollup 8-v2:
Rollup 8-v2

But I have installed Update Rollup 24 already:

Update Rollup 24

So I started to examine Exchange version and I discovered powershell "Get-ExchangeServer" returns 14.3 123.4:

Get-ExchangeServer | select name, admindisplayversion
Name AdminDisplayVersion
---- -------------------
Exchange01 Version 14.3 (Build 123.4)

Same in the EMC -> Server Configuration.

The About Exchange Server dialog shows 14.03.0399.00:
About

Only the powershell "Get-Command ExSetup" returns correct version (Rollup 24):

Get-Command ExSetup | ForEach {$_.FileVersionInfo}

ProductVersion FileVersion FileName
-------------- ----------- --------
14.03.0419.000 14.03.0419.000 C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\bin\ExSetup.exe

So, is my Exchange Server only partially updated? Are some files still in the old version? It looks like Windows Update thinks so, if it wants to install the old patch ...

Form load failed outlook 2010 - organizational forms library

$

Have a good day!

I am running exchange 2010 and outlook 2010. I created custom forms for tasks in outlook and had no trouble running them from personal folders. I created the Organizational Forms Library to share with all users. I published the form to that library and cannot get a error message of Form load failed! My user account has owner permissions, domain admin, exchange admin etc... I have cleared the cache and removed older versions from my personel folders. I am also running x64 windows 7. I duplicate the problem on outlook 2010 across many computers with different configurations and OS's. I'm guessing the problem lies with the Organizational Forms Library but I followed every instruction from the kb...

I do have Read permissions set for All Employees just about everywhere that is remotely related to this.  One problem i'm noticing is that my EFORMS REGISTRY is giving my the domain/admin account an access denied error.  I've tried shell, gui, all different ways to set permissions to the \non_ipm_subtree\Eforms Registry folder.  I also opened up ADSIedit.msc and set permissions for CN=Public Folders.  I removed inheritable permissions and added my personal account as full, domain admin as owner/full, and all employees as read.

I've checked every thread i could find.

Any pointers or troubleshooting tips?

Exchange 2010 - O365 Public Folders "the attempt to logon has failed"

$

hi

I currently have an Exchange 2010 Sp3 environment with two CAS servers and four mailbox servers. This is in full Hybrid configuration with a new O365 Tennant

All is going well  apart from O365 Mailboxes are unable to access on-premise public folders  - I have assigned permissions to the O365 account through the on-premise Public folder console

I have been following the MS KB

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/collaboration-exo/public-folders/set-up-legacy-hybrid-public-folders

But am unable to access the on-premise public folders

Background reading is suggesting the the CAS role needs to be installed on the Mailbox servers holding the PF databases

The purpose of this is to enable the RPC service on all servers...

I  have already run get-rpcaccess and it is reporting that the services is enabled and running on all servers (including the PF Database servers)

Also the public folders are accessible via OWA from an external machine which seems to say that the RPC is working correctly

If anyone has any ideas as to what I am missing here it would be appreciated ?

thankyou

Exchange 2010 - Able to send mail out from Hub server, but not through Edge server after certificates update

$

I have an Edge server and a Hub both running Exchange 2010. I recently updated the certificate on both to one signed by an external Root CA and I've rebuilt the edge subscription from the Hub to the Edge.

Our mail is being sent to an off-site mail pointer. On the Hub server, in Organization Configuration > Hub Transport > Send Connectors, when the Hub is set to the source server mail goes out fine but once I change it to the Edge server it just gets stuck in the Hub's mail queue with error "500 5.5.1 Unrecognized command."

I checked the Application log in event viewer on the Hub and whenever I rebuild the edge subscription, I get 2 errors:

Event ID: 10104 Task Category: Synchronization Error: Microsoft Exchange couldn't match certificate when contacting <Edge FQDN>. The connection was stopped.

Event ID: 1024 Task Category: Topology Error: Failed to connect to the Edge Transport server ADAM instance with exception The LDAP server is unavailable. This could be caused by a failure to resolve the Edge Transport server name <Edge FQDN> in DNS, a failure trying to connect to port 50636 on <Edge FQDN>, network connectivity issues, an invalid certificate, or an expired subscription. Verify your network and server configuration.

This post on the Technet forum seems to be exactly the same issue and I've followed the steps in the answer with no luck:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/9555f3e5-f60f-4f29-a065-c465a87db74d/10104-errors-on-edge-server?forum=exchangesvrsecuremessaginglegacy

 - Remove edge subscription from Edge & hub using remove-edgesubscription

 - Restart the following services on HUB Transport Server

    Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync

    Microsoft Exchange Transport

 - Restart the following services on Edge Server

    Microsoft Exchange ADAM

    Microsoft Exchange Credential service

    Microsoft exchange Transport

 - Create a new subscription file & follow the same procedure to subscribe the edge again.

 - Run Test-EdgeSynchronization.

I also checked the Exchange certificate (Get-ExchangeCertificate | fl) on the Hub and the Edge and they match my FQDN.

Start-EdgeSynchronization shows Success. Test-EdgeSynchronization shows SyncStatus Normal and (Get-EdgeSubscription).IsValid is True on both the Hub and the Edge.

The only thing that's different between the Hub and Edge is when I run Get-EdgeSubscription on both, under "Site", the Hub has "<FQDN>/Configuration/Sites/<EdgeSync Send Connector>" and on the Edge, "Site" is empty.

I'm wracking my brain over this and can't figure out what the issue is. I suspect it has to do with the certificates, but both certificates are valid on the Hub and Edge and the certs for all CA's in the certificate chain are installed on both.

Send OBO Distribution List not working...except for a short time

$

I set up a Distribution List as follows:

  1. Create a Universal Security (not Distribution) Group named "Test", and add a mailbox user as a member.
  2. In Exchange console, add "Test" as a Distribution Group, using "Existing Group" and selecting "Test" from the list.
  3. Issue this command from Exchange PowerShell: Set-DistributionGroup "Test" -GrantSendOnBehalfTo "Test"
  4. Wait about 3 hours for IS processing latency.

Logged on as the user who is a member of "Test" on an OL2010 PC and sent a message, specifying "Test" as the From address. Received this NDR:

--------------------------

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

recipient@domain.com
You can't send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so. Please make sure you're sending on behalf of the correct sender, or request the necessary permission. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.

Diagnostic information for administrators:
Generating server:
recipient@domain.com
#MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:/DC=local/DC=domain:EXCHSERVER[578:0x000004DC:0x0000001D] #SMTP#

-------------------------------------

Found lots of folks online here and elsewhere with the same problem. Among the replies that actually worked--

  • Tried with OWA and had no problem sending OBO "Test".
  • Create a new Outlook profile. It worked...until some point later in the day, when it STOPPED working, and I resumed getting the same NDR as with the old profile. Tried with a different mailbox on a different computer with OL2016; same results.

So, crazy as this sounds, it appears that, as a delayed operation in provisioning a new Outlook profile, whatever permission is causing the problem is applied to the profile, and after that it won't work any more.

Any idea what is happening and how to fix it?

TIA

The "Exchange Server" that is autopopulated on the mail profiles of Outlook clients is a Distinguished Name instead of just the server's hostname?

$
0
0

When a new user and mailbox is created, the "msExchHomeServerName" attribute of the user in AD is this:

/o=ORGANIZATION/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/CN=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=<Exch Hostname>

When the user opens Outlook the first time, it won't connect to the server. I check the mail profile and the field for "Exchange Server" is the same as above. If I change that to the server's hostname (or simply "mail"), Outlook connects fine.

Alternatively, if I change msExchHomeServerName on the user account to the hostname and run GPUpdate, it also works and the mail profile now shows the correct server in the "Exchange Server" field.

It looks like autodiscover is working fine since the client is getting exactly the same information that's in Active Directory, so I'm not sure where the problem is.

Either the Exchange server is populating the wrong information into that attribute on the user object, or that's the right information and for some reason the clients aren't able to use it to connect to the server.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi all,

How i can view mailbox for client when i have privileges admin right on Gsuite?

In Exchange 2010, it's use "manage full access permission" or "Jounal Rules" for that.

For control, how i can?

OnPrem Exchange 2010 Server rejects all messages from one Office365 pure cloud sender

I reaching out i the hope someone came across this issue or could shed some light.

We are using an OnPrem Exchange 2010 SP3 in a hybrid setup.

The issue suddenly occurred. All messages from one cloud user to internal or external recipients are rejected. The sample mail flow is like when I send from o365 to Internet, it should first go to the on-prem, then on-prem send it to internet.  But the messages seems to be rejected from the on-prem everytime. Actually we don't want to re-configure the hybrid wizard because other users have no issue. Only this specific user has this issue. I have also tested on the OWA from other machine and it can be reproduced.  It seems that on-prem server only rejects that sender.

Here is the error

#550 5.7.10 The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address before re-sending. ##
