Exchange 2010, Outlook 2007 = no Free/Busy?

Hi

Just a quick question. :-)

Is there any "officiel explanation" about Outlook 2007 and no free/busy on Exchange 2010?

I migrated a customer from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 - they are still using Outlook 2007.

I have seen this a ton of times. There are no more Free/busy in the calendar, people get the "no permission" when they try to open a calendar. They can only view free/busy in the scheduling assistent.

The lowest level to use in a Ex2010 and Outlook2007 setup is "Reviewer". Anything below gives the "no permission".

If the same user logs in on s PC with Outlook 2010 - everything is as expected.

I would like to know the explanation so I can give it to the customer.

Applying Mailbox Limit System Messages for users in different Office

Hi

I would like to create custom System Limit messages for different Offices in our org.

Is there a way to apply the New-SystemMessage or set-systemmessage commands to users that are in a particular office?

All are users are in the same Org. We can see which office they are in by the Office field.

Moving Public Folders

Hello,

I am hoping someone can see the bit I have missed.

Moving from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 and have everything in place. All mailboxes have moved, public folders replicated, clients all accessing new server, everything is working.

However prior to retiring the 2003 Ex box I completed the MoveAllReplicas as per all the usual instructions however after this has completed, and I did leave it some weeks to complete before trying to do any more just to be sure, if I take down the services on the 2003 box external mailflow to the PFs fails.

Examined the properties of the PFs and only the new 2010 box is listed in the replication.

As soon as the services are brought back up on the 2003 box the mail sent to test immediately becomes available.

Where do I need to look, what change do I need to make, to enable mailflow to these PFs w/o the 2003 Exchange box being online as this is all that is stopping me from completing this job.

Any and all help very greatly received.

Outlook Keep Disconnects/Reconnects and Outlook freez

We are using Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 from last couple ofdays we are receiving complain about outlook keep disconneting errors and Outlook freez.

Ping response to the server is fine, no packet lose and erros found on switch.

If user login to OWA it is working fine.

Disable Delete mail access

Hi, We have a request to disable mail deletion for an Exchange mailbox. This is a shared mailbox and enduser wants IT to prevent accidental deletion. We use Exchange 2010 server. Please let me know how to achieve this.

Exchange 2010: No MAPI access to CAS, rop:: WrongServer

Hello,

given the following environment: Ex2010 RU5-v2, 1 CAS/HT, 1 CAS/HT/MBX, 1 MBX, MBX server in a single site DAG, CAS array.

In order to decommission the CAS/HT, I recently installed the CAS and HT role on the last MBX server. However, Outlook clients are unable to connect to this server. The other two CAS are fully functional. The RCA log says:

What I have found so far on rop:: WrongServer is related to multi-site ADs and is not applicable. Does anyone have an idea how to fix that?

search mail database for external email sender address ?

In exchange 2003 this was dead easy using the search funtion of exchange. 

With 2010 its another useful feature that Microsoft seem to have got rid off. All I want to do per the subject is search every mailbox to see if an email from a specific external sender was received. 

Any ideas ?

Authenticated SMTP Connection and SCL

If I create an authenticated SMTP connection from an external SMTP server to my Exchange 2010 Hub Transport servers should the e-mails get an SCL of -1? We have Domino applications that send e-mails to our Exchange users and sometimes the Outlook 2010 junk filter treats these e-mails as junk. I thought I read that if I setup an authenticated SMTP connection from Domino to Exchange instead of just sending anonymously that the Outlook 2010 junk filter would trust these e-mails. If I do this should these e-mails have an SCL of -1 like e-mails that are sent between Exchange users?

I have a client that is wondering if there are any way to remotly delete emails on a phone and outlook client? They had a user get fired and they believe he was using the info in his outlook client (outlook anywhere) to steal business. They think he put his outlook in an offline state so he could still view his previous emails. They want to set it up so that if it does happen again and they try that, they will log in and email is not there after it syncs with the exchange server. If they change his password, correct me if I'm wrong, but they can put it in an offline state and still view old emails?

The idea I had was set up a user as a schema master and we can pull up outlook and then delete the emails, once his phone/outlook reconnects in it will start deleting his emails, contacts, etc...

Question I have is they don't like that answer becuase they think there are other options.

Are there any other options? The more the better, they want to test them and see which one they like best.

Multiple DAGs per Exchange Server possible? Different activation rules?

My question is not answered by any of the already existend topics.

I have 2 sites with 1 Exchange Server per site (all roles installed)

Site1: Exchange Server1 with all mailboxes of users in Site1 in DB01
Site2: Exchange Server 2 with all mailboxes of users in Site2 in DB02

I now would like to create a DAG, so that the server in the other site contains a passive copy of the database of the other one. GOAL:

Site1: Exchange Server1, contains active DB01 and passive copy of DB02
Site2: Exchange Server2, contains passive copy of DB01 and active copy of DB02

With 1 DAG,  I need 1 FSW in one of the sites. So far so good. But what if the connection between the sites drops? Only the site with the FSW would acivate both databases. Thats not what I am looking for.

I want to keep DB01 in Site1 active, when connection to Site2 is lost AND
I want to keep DB02 in Site2 acitve, when connection to Site1 is lost

As far as I understand, I would need 2 DAGs, with 2 different FSW. One FSW for DAG1 in Site1, so it keeps this database active. And another FSW for DAG2 in Site2.

Can I put one and the same server in mutliple DAGs?

Can''t "resolve name" setting up Outlook Exchange email account!

I can't seem to successfully complete my email account setup on a W-7Pro 64-bit machine and Office Pro 2010 in Outlook using Exchange as the type of account.

The name just doesn't "resolve", yet a similar laptop is running and working well with the exact same settings.

After clicking "check name", I get a popup from Outlook saying "The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action." If I click on "OK", I get another popup from Microsoft Exchange that lists my server name and mailbox. The settings look correct. So then I click on "check name" button and I get a popup from Windows Security, that asks for my password. I type it in and select "remember my credentials", and shortly after I get a different looking window asking the same thing, with the "remember my settings" checkbox unchecked, and a whole bunch of dots already highlighted in the input field (way more characters than are in my password). So I type in my password, and I get the same popup endlessly. If I click cancel to that window and the one below it, I get a popup from Microsoft Outlook saying "Your server or mailbox names cannot be resolved." If I click OK, I'm back at the "Change Account" window with my server and username setting fields.

 

I've looked online at many "solutions" but none have worked for me. I've uninstalled/re-installed Office and have the same problem still. I've run chkdsk, and SFC scan...no problems. Everything else works OK. I've also successfully installed a Gmail account in Outlook.

MSExchange Mailbox Replication; Warning event id 1006 Error: MapiExceptionLogonFailed: Unable to open message store

Hi,

With the intention to remove default database from exchange 2010 sp1, i did this steps;

1. Moving Arbitration Mailboxes (How to recreate System Mailbox , FederatedEmail)

2. Moving Discovery Mailbox (DiscoverySearchMailbox)

3. Moving User Mailboxes

4. Moving Archive Mailboxes

5- Remove all the mailbox softdeleted from the default database (user mailbox and system mailbox)

6- Disable MSExchange Search Indexer from default database because i had one error in the event viewer;

command: Set-MailboxDatabase "Mailbox Database xxxxxxx" -IndexEnabled $false

Then i dismount the original database but i ve got a problem, in the event viewer, a lot of warning messages telling me that the Exchange replication service can not open the store (the default database that i dismount)

¿Is there anyway to communicate to exchange mailbox replication service that the default database is not available anymore?

Exchange 2010, error creating a connector

Hi, We have an exchange server 2010 architecture, and when we try to generate  realy connecto we receive the following error:

Error:
Active Directory operation failed on LPZSRVLAB1.bmsclab.net. This error is not retriable. Additional information: Access is denied.

Cannot send e-mails to some domains from my new Exchange 2010 server

Hello.

I have a problem sending e-mail to some domains (ex: yahoo.com). However I can  send receive emails from everyone and I can send e-mail to some domains (ex: gmail).

The error message I get is "mta1287.mail.sk1.yahoo.com #554 5.7.1 This message has been blocked because the return email domain is invalid.(failed to obtain DNS record for domain <my external domain here>) ##"

My domain resolves just fine and the reverse dns also works.

My connectors are also ok.

I tried everything I could think of. I changed the smtp banner, changed the EHLO server name, talked to the ISP about DNS issues, but didn't resolve the issue.

Please give me have an idea.

Exchange 2010 Failing to Expand Distribution Group

I am having problems with universal distribution groups.

We are migrating from Exchange 2003 to 2010 for our parent domain users.  Both Exchange servers are in the same domain.

Our child domain users are on a Google app server, with their email address in AD.

All users use Outlook 2010 as the email client.

The distribution group contains user from the parent domain (exchange users) and the child domain (Non-Exchange mail users).

If an Exchange 2003 user sends to the group it works, all recipients get the message.

If an Exchange 2010 user sends to the group, only the exchange (both 2003 and 2010) users get the message, no child domain (non-Exchange) users get the message, no NDR generated, no error given.

The message tracking log show the group being expanded, but only lists the exchange users, no non-exchange users shown and no errors raised.

An Exchange 2010 user expanding the group in the “To...”  line of a new outlook message sees all of the recipients.

As a short term solution, I set the expansion server property of the distribution group to the Exchange 2003 server, now all users can send to the group successfully.

Since we are migrating away from the exchange 2003 server, I need to know why the exchange 2010 server can’t send to the distribution groups.

Any help would be appreciated.

SSL certificates for Internal Exchange 2010 Servers

Hi,

I'm running a 2 site Exchange 2010 environment with a barracuda spam filter that receives and sends all agency email. IP addresses 10.0.0.x and 10.1.0.x

I usually obtain a Multiple Name (SAN) certificate with the following:

Autodiscover.xxx.net, Mail.xxx.net, servername.xxx.local, servername2.xxx.local

Recent changes to the governing authority says that starting nov 1, 2015 you can no longer get a SAN SSL with your internal servername on it if its different domain wise from your external domain.

For example servername.xxx.local vs public name mail.xxx.net

Where i'm stuck now is how to address this change. I did simply get a 2yr SAN that'll carry me until january 2015. After that i have to come up with a fix.

I'm looking for some official guidance from MS on how to reconfigure to address the changes.

Domain reconfig from .local to public.net? vs self signed internal certificate.

Verisign has always advised me that I MUST have the internal mail server's FQDN on the certificate we use for external webmail. Now i'm not so sure of this guidance.

Any experience with this issue or guidance would be appreciated.

Powershell 3.0 and Exchange 2010

I foolishly installed Windows Management Framework 3.0 during our last patch cycle on our Exchange 2010 servers (Single site, 2 multi-role servers in a DAG, Exchange 2010 SP2 RU-5v2).  Since then I've uninstalled KB2506143 on one of my servers while the other is still running my databases.  After uninstalling powershell 3.0, my databases won't sync with the other server. The copy status is Disconnected and Resynchronizing.  I've some people have said that they had to also uninstall .net 4 to fix the issue.  Can anyone point me to instructions on correctly recovering the Exchange servers after installing WMF 3?  Is uninstalling .net 4 required? And if so, does it automatically rollback to 3.5 or do I have to reinstall .net 3.5?
